Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report
Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police report early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
An important official commented the attack left him without words and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
